Varnish
Varnish can substantially increase the general performance of your websites. Find out how to take full advantage of its power.
Varnish is a content caching platform, which is occasionally called a caching HTTP reverse proxy. It’s a website accelerator tool that can increase the load speed of a website by up to one thousand percent, based on its content. Each time a visitor opens any page on a site that uses Varnish, the platform caches the page and delivers it instead of the web server when the visitor opens it again. In this way, the web browser request from the visitor is not processed by the server and the web page will load significantly faster, since the Varnish platform can deliver information many times faster than any web server software. The end result will be a considerably faster loading website, which means an immensely improved website browsing experience. If any of the cached webpages is updated on the actual Internet site, the content that Varnish keeps in its system memory is ‘refreshed’ too, so the users will never end up seeing out-of-date data.
Varnish in Shared Hosting
In case you host your sites under a shared hosting account with us, you’ll be able to add Varnish with several mouse clicks via your Control Panel. The caching platform comes as an upgrade with all our hosting plans and you can choose the number of the sites that will use it and the maximum storage space that will be used for the cached data. The two upgradeable features in the Upgrades section of the Control Panel are the amount of memory and the number of instances and they aren’t linked directly to each other, so you can choose if you need lots of memory for one single large-size site or less memory for several smaller ones. You can use the full potential of Varnish if the sites use a dedicated IP address. Using the Control Panel, you can swiftly start/reboot/shut down an instance, delete the cached files independently for each website which employs the Varnish platform or view a comprehensive system log file.
